Bringing Southern Charm to Southeast Idaho: Brooks Hale and the Bannock Civitans.

If you've had the pleasure of meeting Brooks Hale, you probably noticed two things right away—his easygoing Southern charm and his passion for making a difference. Originally from North Carolina, Brooks brings warmth, hospitality, and a servant’s heart to everything he does in Pocatello.
As president of the Bannock Civitans, he’s become a key part of the local volunteer scene. From organizing community events to advocating for inclusion and service, Brooks has embraced Pocatello—and the community has embraced him right back.
A Heart for Service, A Home in Idaho
What started as a work requirement—joining a local service club—turned into a life-changing experience. Drawn in by the tight-knit community and easy access to the outdoors, Brooks eventually made the move from visitor to full-time resident.
“You can go five minutes in any direction here and be on a trail,” he says, reflecting on the natural beauty that complements the genuine connections he's found in Southeast Idaho.

Leading With Purpose Through the Bannock Civitans
Under Brooks' leadership, the Bannock Civitans have continued to grow their impact—supporting both local and national initiatives. Their work supports neurological disability research and promotes inclusion and dignity for all.
"You might’ve enjoyed their work without even knowing it. "
The group helps organize the popular Revive at Five summer concert series, assembles backpacks for foster children, and partners with local nonprofits like New Day and My Brother’s Table. Their motto is clear: show up, give back, and build community—one project at a time.
Find Your Place in the Community
What really sets Brooks apart is his ability to make people feel welcome. Whether you're brand new to Pocatello or just looking to get more involved, he’ll greet you with a smile, a good story, and a genuine invitation to join the mission.
The Bannock Civitans meet every Wednesday at noon at the Elks Lodge, and your first lunch is always free. There’s no pressure—just good people doing meaningful work, and having fun while they do it.
Brooks Hale is proof that when you combine passion, purpose, and a little Southern charm, you can make a big difference. He’s not just helping build a stronger Pocatello—he’s building a place where everyone feels they belong.
